I completed my PhD with Karl Matter and Maria Balda at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, where I discovered new regulators that control the activity of RhoGTPases, proteins that are master regulators of the cytoskeleton.  I was involved in several studies involving the spatial and temporal regulation of RhoGTPases by these regulatory proteins that demonstrated them to be important for tight junction formation, regulation and cellular polarity. 


I continued my fascination in the cytoskeleton by taking up a PostDoctoral position in the Lab of Ulrike Eggert at Kings College London. In this time I discovered proteins that regulate the actin and Septin cytoskeleton during cytokinesis the final step in cell division. 


I joined the UCL Ear institute in 2019 for a postdoc position with Dan Jagger and Nicolas Daudet where I am currently. I  am working on a project to investigate how cell trafficking protein regulates cellular and tissue level polarity pathways in the balance and hearing organs of the inner ear. Using my strong molecular biology background, I have recently developed a new in ovo CRSIPR system to generate mosaic knockouts in chicken embryos, for loss of function studies important for inner ear development.

Research Summary

I am primarily a cell and molecular biologist with an interest in how cells regulate their cytoskeleton to control important cellular process important in development like cell-cell adhesion, cell division and establishment and maintenance of polarity. I am interested in how these processes are regulated in normal healthy development of tissues and organs and when these processes are mis-regulated in disease such as developmental disorders and cancer.
