I completed my doctorate in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. My primary interest is in understanding consciousness from a multi- and inter-disciplinary perspective that includes psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, and first-person experience. I am particularly interested in what aspects of consciousness do and do not change with learning and training. My previous research has covered a variety of topics including investigating subcortical brain networks of human attention, visual awareness using bistable perception, and the neurocognitive effects of meditation training. I am currently investigating how humans are biased in evaluating themselves (i.e., metacognitive biases) through computational modelling of behaviour, and if/how such biases could be adaptively diminished in a way that supports mental well-being.
