Dr Lei Shen is currently a post-doctoral researcher in Institute of Cardiovascular Science (ICS). He obtained his MBBS degree in Nanjing Medical University in China in 2009, before he moved to University College London (UCL) where he did his MSc in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition and PhD in Division of Medicine.

During the PhD training, he majorly investigated the microvasculature including adipokine secretion, angiogenesis, and vascular function in abdominal adipose tissue in mobidly obese patients. In his final year of PhD (2013-2014), he attended into an investigation of the beraprost effect in the treatment of PAH patients in the collaboration with Prof. Lucie Clapp's lab and United Therapeutics, USA. He was then employed as a post-doctoral researcher in Prof. Lucie Clapp's group, investigating the prostaglandin/prostacyclin effect on cAMP generation, cell proliferation, gene expression and vascular function of pulmonary microvessels in PAH patients.
