Biography
I joined UCL in 2018 as a post-doc to work on the Surrey Communication and Language in Education Study with Professor Courtenay Norbury. Prior to this I was a post-doc at the Autism Research Centre at the University of Cambridge. Since 2019 I have been a lecturer (teaching) in the department of Language and Cognition.
Research Summary
My research focuses on understanding the development of social, emotional and communication skills and their relationship with mental health and academic outcomes in typical and atypical populations. I use experimental methods and longitudinal datasets to investigate topics including;
- Comorbidity between developmental disorders and mental health conditions.
- Emotion recognition and regulation in children with atypical language.
- Causal relationships between language and other cognitive skills during development.
- Predictors of children's school placements, SEN support and academic outcomes.
I am happy to receive inquiries from PhD applicants interested in completing a PhD on any of the topics outlined above.
Teaching Summary
I co-ordinate the module Introduction to Statistical Methods, a core module for students taking Psychology BSc and Psychology and Language Science BSc. I also supervise third year dissertation projects.
