Dr Martynov has received his BSc and MSc in Technical Physics from Moscow Power Engineering Institute, and after obtaining PhD in 2005 he has been involved in several research projects at the University of Brighton and Mechanical and Chemical Engineering Departments at at University College London. In these projects he applied mathematical modelling and his knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, physical chemistry, multi-phase heat and mass transfer, and fluid-structure interaction to improve the design, safety and efficiency of operation of complex systems, ranging from Diesel fuel injectors and carbon dioxide transportation pipelines to ultrasound contrast agent microbubbles.

Dr Martynov’ current research interests are broadly in the field of industrial decarbonisation and Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS). He is applying process modelling and optimisation methods to improve efficiency and safety of design and operation of CO2 capture and transportation systems as part of CCUS chain in large industrial clusters.
