I am an adult literacy teacher, teacher educator and researcher with particular interests in reading development, community education, reading circles and the roles of cinema, literature and poetry in language learning. I am also interested in teacher education, informal literacy learning across the life-course and when we might choose to read something aloud rather than in silence.
I am the Director of the International Literacy Centre

I am Academic Head of Learning and Teaching (AHLT) for the Department of Education, Practice and Society.
I teach on a range of Post-Compulsory teacher education, adult education and research-focussed modules and run the BA module 'Literacies Across the Life-course.'
