My chief research interests are ethnic differences in diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity. I have investigated these topics using data from SABRE, a multi-ethnic cohort study, and UK Biobank, the UK's largest cohort, since 2012. Additionally, I coordinated the UK Biobank diabetes outcomes adjudication group, convened to create operational definitions of diabetes for the UK Biobank study.
I am currently undertaking a PhD, funded by Diabetes UK, which aims to compare prescribing patterns and effectiveness of medication for type 2 diabetes in the UK's three main ethnic groups.
In 2009-11, I taught on the women's health, mental health and introductory clinical courses for year 3-4 MBBS, in addition to supervising Primary Care BSc students at UCL. More recently, I have taught epidemiology on the Cardiovascular studies BSc at Imperial College.
