Sadie is a Health Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She is also a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Sadie's research in academic and healthcare settings has included the psychosocial impact of long term conditions and their treatments, and evaluating health services and public health interventions. Sadie held research collaborations at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for six years throughout her PhD and postdoctoral research at City, University of London. Sadie later worked in an applied research role in local government public health advising healthcare teams in the design of service evaluations, leading service evaluations and community engagement projects, and coordinating Islington Council's Qualitative Research and Involvement Network (QRIN). Sadie has also worked as a research consultant.
Sadie has held a number of teaching roles, including Teaching Assistant for BSc Psychology at Birkbeck, University of London, Module Lead for MSc Health Psychology, Placement Coordinator for Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology, and Visiting Lecturer at City, University of London.
Sadie is interested in how people with long-term conditions understand and manage their health, patient-centered healthcare services, health communication, patient and public involvement and engagement in medical teaching and research, and the application of behavioural science in public health contexts.
Sadie uses quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods in her research, and has conducted systematic and rapid reviews. Sadie is a member of the NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) Evidence Synthesis Working Group (ESWG).
Sadie is a Lecturer and Deputy Director of Medical Education (Primary Care & Community) in the Primary Care Population Health (PCPH) department. Sadie is Academic Lead for Patient Pathways in Integrated and Community Care (PPICC), a Clinical and Professional Practice (CPP) module that runs through MBBS Year 1 and 2. Sadie is also Academic Lead for Student Selected Components (SSCs) in Years 1 and 6, including Health Inequalities & Social Inclusion, Living with Long-term Conditions and Substance Misuse. Sadie also leads the Primary Care Expert by Experience Group and is a member of the NIHR SPCR PPI in Medical Education group.
