Before starting the journey as a postgraduate research student, I had worked as a project manager for eight years at Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) in Beijing, China. My work covered the development of diagnostic tests for high school students, and later centred on content development for national English public speaking, writing, and reading competitions which attract over a million contestants annually from more than 1,000 universities across China.
