Biography

Dr. Shi Zhou is an Associate Professor at Department of Computer Science, UCL. He held a prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering/EPSRC Research Fellowship from 2007 to 2012.

He is a Committee Member of the Internet Specialist Group of the British Computer Society (BCS). He is a Senior Member of IEEE.  He is a member of the Editorial Board of the PLOS ONE and the Scientific Reports of the Nature Publishing Group.

Research Summary

Dr. Shi Zhou's research interests include the followings.  

(1) Complex networks: the rich-club phenomenon, the second-order assortative mixing in social networks, the positive-feedback preference (PFP) model of the Internet AS graph, the BOSAM network visualisation tool etc.  

(2) Internet inter-domain routing: the Internet topology, measurement and modelling. 

(3) Social media analysis: detection of Twitter botnets and online frauds.  

(4) Hybrid epidemic spreading: the Internet worm Conficker, HIV in vivo infection, and information diffusion in society and cyberspace. 

(5) Cloud computing: Universal Cloud Classification (UCC) . 



Teaching Summary
Dr. Zhou supervises PhD/MRes/MSc/MEng/BSc students.  He teaches a postgraduate module on Complex Networks and the Web (COMP0123).
