Thierry earned a Bachelor in Sociology, a MSc in Community Health, and a PhD in Public Health (Health Promotion) from the Université de Montréal in Canada. His thesis focused on better understanding the progression of social inequalities in smoking between the ages of 18 and 25 in Canada. Thierry transferred to UCL and became Honorary Research Fellow in 2019. His fellowship is funded by the Fonds de Recherche du Québec - Santé and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. He recently obtained the prestigious Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship to continue at UCL until 2023. Thierry works most closely with Professors Amanda Sacker and Anne McMunn in the UCL Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, and with Professor Ingrid Schoon in the UCL Institute of Education.
Thierry's research focuses on young adults as a key age group for population health and the transition to adulthood as a key process through which social inequalities in health progress over the life-course. His research focuses on cigarette smoking and mental wellbeing. His recent work has been published in Tobacco Control, Addiction, Addictive Behaviours, Preventive Medicine, Social Science & Medicine - Population Health, and the Journal of Youth and Adolescence. Thierry is currently Module Lead for the UCL BSc Population Health Dissertation module. He occasionally tutors in the UCL MSc Basic Statistics for Medical Sciences. He is also involved in marking for the MSc Health Inequalities over the Life-Course module and the MSc Population Health and MSc Social Epidemiology dissertations.
