Research Summary
My research has focused on methodological, computational and foundational issues in Bayesian statistics, asymptotic statistical inference and reliability analysis. I have also carried out work on limit theory in probability, including extreme value theory. Bayesian ideas, or at least notions of conditionality, motivate much of my work in methodological and theoretical statistics, even if this is not outwardly Bayesian. Major application areas include reliability analysis and medical statistics.
Teaching Summary
My main teaching has involved: * Teaching Statistics on Undergraduate and Masters degree programmes. Modules have included applied probability, Bayesian statistics, decision theory, experimental design, general statistical methodology, mathematical statistics, multivariate statistics, observational studies, operational research, reliability, simulation methods, statistical theory, survey methods. * Design of numerous courses in Statistics and development of web-based course materials * Supervision of numerous Final Year Undergraduate and Masters Statistics projects * Statistics service teaching in various departments * Professional Year tutoring (University of Surrey) involving visiting & assessing placement students at their workplace and assessing final reports. Current responsibility for the allocation of all lecturing, tutorial and demonstrating duties to staff and research students.
