I obtained my BDS degree at University of Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2011, when I published my first peer-reviewed paper in salivary gland development in the Journal of Anatomy. I carried on with my research in the field during my PhD in the Department of Oral Medicine, looking particularly at the role of cell death during ductal formation of human developing glands. During this time, I spent over a year at King's College London during a PhD sandwich programme funded by CNpQ from Brazil, learning techniques on tissue culture, confocal analyses and animal models, performing functional experiments to compliment my research project. Once graduated, I obtained a Post-Doctoral Fellowship funded by Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) continuing my collaboration with King's College London, looking into the role of sympathetic nerves during gland formation, looking into animal and human models. Currently, I am an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Oral Medicine, with interest on regenerative medicine and aiming to work on translational science to create new strategies to improve patient outcomes.
NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Oral Medicine at UCL Eastman Dental Institute, with research interest in translational research and tissue regeneration.
