Tom is a teaching fellow and researcher working in the field of biomechanics and blood flow modelling. His research interests lie in medical device development, and in particular the design of minimally invasive treatments for aneurysms and other diseases of the cardiovascular system. In addition to working with colleagues in the UK, he has international collaborators in the USA, Canada, Germany, South Africa, and China.
His other research interests include low-cost and user-centred design, self-deploying structures, flow stability, and both in-vitro and animal models. He was previously at the University of Oxford (DPhil) and the University of Cambridge (MEng, MA).
In Mechanical Engineering he teaches and supervises research projects for both undergraduate and graduate students. Tom is a member of the UCL Coaching Network and is a Mental Health First-Aider.
