Research Summary
Teodora's research focuses on novel genetic testing technologies to detect aneuploidy in human pre-implantation embryos to improve pregnancy outcomes after in vitro fertilisation (IVF). She innovates in the space of IVF by leveraging karyomapping and artificial intelligence to monitor and assess human embryos. She also leverages advanced virtual reality (VR) technology to create a platform to demystify and humanise the IVF journey by simulating the IVF clinic and lab environment. This technology aims to allow future IVF patients to familiarise themselves with the process and interact remotely with doctors from the comfort of their homes, thereby reducing associated fears and anxieties.
Teaching Summary
Teodora is currently a Programme Teaching Fellow at University College London (UCL) for MSc Personalised Medicine and Novel Therapies where she speaks passionately about futuristic science and how technology and data could power the healthcare of the future. She was also among the first in the world to deliver lectures in the metaverse, advocating for health digitalisation.
