Dr Tasos Varoudis is an Associate Professor, architect and computing engineer with research focusing on hybrid architecture, computational analysis and machine intelligence.
Since 2011 he is instrumental in the spatial and architectural computation research for the Space Syntax Laboratory where he develops new methodological and computational innovations combining spatial data-driven models with machine learning and agent-based models. He is the lead developer of 'depthmapX' spatial network analysis software, the most widely used tool in research and practice.
He currently runs Research Cluster 14 (RC14 - Machine Learning Urbanism) at the MArch Urban Design and he is part of UCL's new Urban Dynamics Laboratory funded by a 4m EPSRC grant.

His personal research interests are driven by the concept of ‘spatial dynamics’, the interaction between architectural space and machine intelligence. Combining traditional design methods and aesthetics with programmatic design, generative systems, computer vision, natural human-computer interaction and ambient technology, he seeks to blur the boundaries between physical and virtual. He recently published a co-edited book on 'Architecture and Interaction' from Springer.
