Biography
Dr Uchenna Daniel Ani is a Research Fellow with the PETRAS National Centre of Excellence for IoT Systems Cybersecurity at the Department of Science Technology Engineering and Public Policy (STEaPP), University College London. He has worked on the Analytical Lenses for Internet-of-Things Threats (ALIoTT) project. He is currently involved in the Modelling for Socio-Technical Security (MASS) project which explores both social and technical security lens analysis - addressing key technical security problems in adopting IoT in use case Critical Infrastructure areas while considering how they interact with standards and policy to create safe, secure, practical and future-proof outcomes. He is also a contributor to the PETRA IoTinControl project. Dr Ani is working on the use and utility of open-source simulators, as well as design and modelling considerations for credible ICS/IIoT Security Simulations to improve the cybersecurity of Critical National Infrastructures.

Dr. Ani is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy of UK. He was the recipient of the National Information Technology Development Education Trust Fund (NITDEF) Scholarship Award from National Information Technology Development Agency, Nigeria. Also the recipient of the Most Outstanding Postgraduate Academic Achievement in Computer Science 2012 for Excellent Performance from University of Bedfordshire, Luton, United Kingdom. Dr Ani is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET); the Society for Digital Information and Wireless Communications (SDIWC); and the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), and the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS).
Research Summary
Dr Ani's research interests are in Data-driven Cybersecurity, IoT and Critical Infrastructure Security Modelling/Simulations, ICS/CPS Security Risk Assessment, Human-Factor Cybersecurity, Security Metrication, Secure ICS architectures, Computer and Network Security, Digital Forensics, Incidence Response, VoIP and Mobile Security.

Dr Ani has authored and co-authored several academic conference and journal papers, and reports. He is also a reviewer for a number of journals and conferences in the field of Information, Computer and Cyber Security. Dr Ani’s research interests include; ICS/IoT/IIoT Cyber Security, Security Modelling and Simulations, Security Metrics, Human-factor Security, Security Risk (threat, vulnerability and impact) Analysis, Data-driven cybersecurity, Digital Forensics and Evidence Integrity, Mobile Adhoc Networks Quality of Service.


Teaching Summary

Dr Ani worked as Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State, Nigeria, and Department of Computer Science at the Federal University Lokoja, Nigeria before his PhD in Cybersecurity of Industrial Control Systems at Cranfield University in the UK. He has an MSc. Degree in Computer Security and Forensics from the University of Bedfordshire in the UK, and a B. Tech (Hons) degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Technology Yola, Nigeria  (now Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola). Dr Ani has also worked in the Information Technology Industry undertaking the dual role of an Operations Manager and System/Network Administrator at MICOH NIG LTD, an SME-based IT solution firm in Nigeria.
