Biography
I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering with a specialization in robotics at the University of Florence.

During my BSE I dealt with robotics and the study and the control of electro-mechanical systems. I worked in academic projects such as the motion study of a robotic exoskeleton for hand rehabilitation in collaboration with the Don Gnocchi rehabilitation centre (Florence).

During my MScEng I spent a short study period at NOVA University of Lisbon and I took an internship at a robotic pharmaceutical company in Italy.

In September 2020, I started my PhD at UCL and I am working on the development of a novel endoscopy robotic capsule for screening of the GI tract.

Research Themes
Research Summary

My reasearch field regards the development of a robotic device for medical endoscopy and in particular colonoscopy procedure. My work focuses on mechanical design and miniaturisation of a robotic capsule based on the use of soft materials such as silicone.

The study covers aspects such as 3D modeling and fabrication of prototypes, integration of mechatronic elements and sensors, analysis of soft material properties and silicone fabrication and manufacturing of organ phantoms.
