I am a lecturer  at the Thomas Coram Research Unit (TCRU), UCL Social Research Institute, and research children and young people in familial, care and school contexts. As a Sociologist, I am interested in the reproduction of inequalities through the  intersections of 'race', gender, age and migration.  I employ a range of qualitative methods including visual, ethnographic and case study approaches with young people and professionals including teachers and social workers, and foster carers.  I completed my PhD at UCL on the identities and positioning of South Asian girls in an 'everyday' multicultural school context.

My current and recent research includes:
  • Children Caring on the Move (CCoM): the care-asylum nexus for separated child migrants, post doctoral researcher (ESRC)
  • Integration and cohesion for unaccompanied asylum seeking children (Croydon Council)
  • The everyday social and educational lives of  young children in foster care (UCL Seed funded).

Languages spoken/written
