My interests are inflammatory ocular surface disease, refractive surgery, intraocular lens surgery and corneal transplantation. My PhD investigating conjunctival scarring and inflammation in ocular mucous membrane pemphigoid has led to further landmark work making steps towards finding a new topical anti-inflammatory anti-scarring treatment to be used in conjunction with systemic immunosuppression. At the Institute I work with Dr Virginia Calder, who has expertise in cellular immunology and inflammatory eye disease and Professor Julie Daniels, who has a longstanding track record in ocular surface, fibroblast and wound healing biology. I also work with Professor David Abraham and Dr Jill Norman at UCL Royal Free, both international leaders in fibroblast biology relating to scleroderma and renal fibrosis. I am also involved in projects relating to dry eye, ocular allergy, intraocular lens surgery and corneal transplantation.
I am a Lecturer and Tutor for the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology MSc in Clinical Ophthalmology and MSc in Ophthalmology with Clinical Practice, and for the UCL Medical School Bachelor of Applied Medical Sciences (BSc/MSci Course).
