Dr Wenjia Du
Appointment
- Research Fellow
- Dept of Chemical Engineering
- Faculty of Engineering Science
Research Summary
Wenjia is by training a metallurgist and X-ray imaging microscopist, he has extended his expertise over recent years into the areas of Li-sulfur batteries, reuse and recycling of Li-ion batteries as well as molten salts-assisted electrolysis, collaborating with universities and industrial sectors.
He specialises in materials science (Li-ion and Li-sulfur batteries, metallic alloys, molten salts) and advanced characterisations, in particular, X-ray imaging techniques at laboratory and synchrotron facilities.
He focuses on the relationship between material structures and performance across multiple lengths and time scales. He has expertise in 3D data visualization and machine learning of X-ray radiography and tomography datasets.
Currently, he holds the STFC Experimental Design Grant and Alan Turing Enrichment Award. He is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Peer Review College.
