Risks of coastal flooding to port systems
This NERC project (NE/M008150/1) involves a collaboration between UCL Geography and UCL Civil and Geomatic Engineering and is aimed at improving local prediction of tidal surge and building this into a model of port infrastructure and logistics. Starting with a case study of the Port of Immingham, the work will improve our ability to foresee the impacts of tidal surge flooding on the UK supply chain, especially in relation to bulk commodities (coal, biomass) that sustain energy generation.
