Angelica's Susan, a challenge from real life?
The essay (4,338 words) explores imaginative links between a dead character, Susan, daughter of Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, and Shakespeare's own family, dovetailing with a central strand of Rene Weis's biography of Shakespeare which argues that Shakespeare's life left a distinct trace history in his plays and poems. It will appear from Fairleigh Dickinson University Press in 2015.
