Palaeontology
The same physical science characterisation techniques that we are using to study pathological calcification can be easily adapted for the study of several other systems, including fossils.
With this exciting possibilities we start to apply the same material science characterization methods to fossilized bones from dinosaur to try to uncover the nano/micro structures present with the final objective to understand how these are affected by the fossilization process and how the original organic matrix shapes the nano/micro structure presented in the fossilized bones.
