Genetic Mapping of Complex Traits in Populations Descended from Inbred Strains
Many populations of model organisms (mice, rats, plants etc) can be modelled as if their chromosomes are mosaics of a limited set of haplotypes. In some populaitons, such as Heterogeneous Stocks (HS) and multiparental Advanced Generation Intercrosses (MAGIC) the founding haplotypes are known. I have developed statistical methods for the analysis of complex traits of these types of populations, which have been used in a wide range of studies (e.g Valdar et al 2006 Nature Genetics, Kover et al 2009 PLoS Genetics, Baud et al 2013 Nature Genetics). Ongoing work includes analyses of pig and rat HS, and wheat MAGIC populations.
