EVOTION is a Horizon 2020 EEC funded project. The key aim of EVOTION is to collect big data in order to identify factors that predict hearing-aid use and benefit for a wide range of hearing-impaired adults (including patients with stroke, auditory neuropathy andmild cognitive impairments) in order to define public health policy. As part of the project, we will run a clinical trial with 1750 adults who will be recruited at different centres in the UK and Greece in order to collect physiological, audiological, behavioural and other data. During this trial patients will be given smart hearing-aids linked with sensors and for some patients with mobile phone applications. This way we can collect real-time data about hearing aid usage and related management. Big data analytic techniques will be used to identify significant predictors that can then inform the management of hearing loss from a public health policy making perspective.
