Modelling nonlinearities in structural dynamics
It is an increasingly common practice to employ numerical models to predict the dynamic response of built-up structures. However, such analyses are generally limited to linear models, partly to allow for acceptable simulation times but also a systematic means for manipulating nonlinear components in structural dynamics is still lacking. The aim of this project is to develop a method that allows inclusion of nonlinear components in a numerical model of a built-up structure to predict its dynamic response. This is a collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover to model the next generation vehicles.
