Queering Heteronormativity at Home in London
The result of a four-year doctoral research project in architectural history, this substantive work sits at the intersection of several fields of enquiry: architectural history, gender and sexuality studies, as well as human geography, anthropology and sociology. Using a qualitative research methodology to investigate contemporary domesticity, the project allowed me to work at the boundary of disciplines and traditional approaches, focusing on minorities in space. This work is important for challenging hegemonic discourse in traditionally white, male (and implicitly heterosexual) disciplines and space.
