A circular economy and society for sustainable islands (circular islands)
Recent import restrictions on waste plastic have had a major impact globally. Strengthening regulations in one country can lead to problematics, ad hoc solutions by recycling business in exporting country, simply relocating the problems. Our objectives is to examine target and indicator-setting within planetary boundaries and cross-cut through various SDGs. Whether we’re trying to reduce food waste (SDG12.3), marine pollution (SDG14.1), or sloppy waste management (SDG11.6) the golden link is the circular economy and global collaboration to promote transition in infrastructure and lifestyles to be more sustainable. Waste and plastic pollution is now ubiquitous in our oceans and remote islands are an ideal place to get a greater of the problem. We will define a methodological guidance for islands towards a circular economy and society in line with the three principles (reuse, reduce and recycle)
