Magnetism of Triple A-site Columnar Ordered Quadruple Perovksites
The triple A-site columnar ordered quadruple perovskites are a novel family of oxides with unique structural distortions that give rise to a complex ordering of cations. Using neutron scattering, symmetry analysis and magnetometry measurements, we have shown that these systems exhibit a wealth of different magnetic phases that are tuned by site disorder and frustration. For instance, it is possible to tune between long range ordered ferrimagnetic phases and states characterized by the coexistence of mesoscale ferrimagnetic and antiferromagnetic clusters. These systems also host properties of technological importance to the field of spintronics, such as new paradigms for spin reorientation transitions. We are now working on a generic phase diagram of these relatively unexplored materials based on the effects of spin doping.
