Parisian Brutalism: 'As Found' and Performed
This is a collaborative project between interdisciplinary practitioners, spanning architectural theory and architectural practice, visual art, performance and sound art/ music composition. Funded by the Bartlett's Architecture Research Fund, it involves a series of re- visits to examples of Parisian brutalism (the work of Jean Renaudie and Renée Gailhoustet in particular) to document and collectively study through different representational methods the complex spaces of the public realm. The group includes, Photolanguage (Nigel Green & Robin Wilson), Flavie Caroukis, Warren & Mosley, Iain Chambers and Robert Worby (of the Langham Research Centre). The project has thus far produced exhibitions and live sonic performances involving Photolanguage and the Langham Research Centre at the Hub Space, Barbican Centre (Sept. 2019) and the Bartlett Foyer Gallery (Nov. 2019). Aspects of the project also feature in the BBC 3 Radio broadcast "Concrete Paris" by Iain Chambers: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000sqxl
