I have a long-standing interest in this topic. Publications include a monograph on Germany and the Causes of the First World War (Bloomsbury, 2004) and articles on 'Germany and France before the First World War: A Reassessment of Wilhelmine Foreign Policy', English Historical Review, 115 (2000) and 'Images of the Enemy: German Depictions of the French Military, 1890-1914' War in History, 11 (2004), 4-33. Public events associated with the project include a roundtable debate about '1914: What Historians Don't Know about the Causes of the First World War' at the German Historical Institute in June 2014.
