What is Useful Art and what role can it play in our turbulent times? The working group involves seminars, workshops and events which take a different thematic and practical focus. Through this we discuss art and its relationship with utility, investigating recent developments in art theory and practice. Through this practice, we explore the overlaps of art, activism, and community action, particularly in response to pressing issues such as climate change and sustainability. Themes: food and the material body, energy ecologies of Hydrogen, transmutation of value in materials and art objects. Published zine coming in 2023 London Arts & Humanities Partnership (AHRC DTP) funded.
