Targeting neural crest cell fates for the treatment of skeletal defects and tumours
i) Chemical and genetic screening is undertaken to identify novel factors and FDA-approved drugs that influence neural crest cell development in zebrafish embryos. ii) Small molecules are tested for treatment of skeletal defects (e.g. craniosynostosis) in model organsims and neural crest-derived tumour cell lines. iii) Neural crest specific mutant mice (using a Cre-lox approach) are investigated for skeletal defects.
