The group research themes are aimed at understanding and formalising aspects of intelligent behaviour for use in systems. Techniques, together with algorithms, prototype software, and application studies, are being developed for tasks including: learning knowledge from data; merging data and knowledge; reasoning with conflicting information; argumentation with conflicting beliefs; adapting behaviour according to context; etc. These techniques are increasingly important in building more robust and more intelligent computing-based technologies.
