Disorder of Placentation
Research in disorders of placentation is focussed on four strongly interrelated themes: 1. Investigation of cellular and molecular mechanisms of early placental development and their role in the pathophysiology of placental-related complication. 2. Identification of the molecular causes of placental-related pregnancy disorders. 3. Developing new screening and therapeutic strategies to prevent or reduce placental damage in cases of pre-eclampsia, recurrent and threatened miscarriages. 4. To investigate the link between maternal diet, placental development and gestational diabetes.
