Networks Research Group

The Networks Research Group continues this legacy, conducting wide-ranging research into many aspects of networking and networked systems. The group is primarily focussed on the Internet, with research into the Internet architecture, congestion control, routing, security, quality of service (QoS), high-speed networking, human factors in communications, and the evolution of the network from IPv4 towards being based on IPv6. Our research also includes multimedia systems, with a particular emphasis on conferencing and broadcast-style networked multimedia applications. An additional focus is on mobile systems, with particular emphasis on ad-hoc networks and the interaction between wireless technologies, mobility and routing.

Key Research Themes:

  • Internet Architecture, Protocols, Applications and Evolution.
  • Multimedia Networking
  • Mobile Networked Systems
  • High-speed networking
