Recently, BTEC has been extensively involved with research into design, development and the testing of medical devices from lab to in vivo, clinical trial and commercialised. The following devices are at the development stage: Coronary artery by-pass graft Stents, including coronary artery and for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) Percutaneous Heart Breast implant Tissue engineering liver Tissue engineering small intestine Tissue engineering cartilage, skin engineering, capillary bed for plastic surgery.
