Adolescent Research Team
The Adolescent Research Team at the UCL Institute of Child Health has a national and international reputation for research in adolescent health and development. The Team contains the largest portfolio of research on adolescent health in Europe. Work focuses on the implications of adolescent physical and psychosocial development for health and healthcare. Work is funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), and includes programme grants, HTA funded clinical trials and research training fellowships. Team members are actively engaged in national and international collaborations. Major interests include * adolescent epidemiology and health service use in the UK and globally * obesity and diabetes in adolescence * chronic illness management in adolescence - particularly relating to diabetes * health risk behaviours (alcohol use, smoking, drug use, sexual risk behaviour ) * outcome studies of complex illness in adolescence (meningitis, chronic fatigue syndrome)
