CoMPLEX is UCL's centre for interdisciplinary research in the medical and life sciences. It brings together life and medical scientists with mathematicians, physical scientists, computer scientists and engineers to tackle the challenges arising from complexity in biology and medicine. CoMPLEX is established as a department in the Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences. The 'CoMPLEX Research Group' in addition to the staff of the department includes a much wider community of researchers across the College. CoMPLEX has promoted many new collaborations between academic staff from over 30 UCL Departments and Institutes. CoMPLEX has also welcomed research fellows to the department as part of the 2020 Science programme; a collaboration between UCL, the University of Oxford and Microsoft Research, Cambridge. CoMPLEX's well established interdisciplinary PhD programme is training a new generation of high quality researchers to work at the life sciences interface.
