Welcome to the Institute of Nuclear Medicine - UCL
The Institute of Nuclear Medicine (INM) is unique, being the only academic department of Nuclear Medicine in the UK, and with a purpose built new academic and service facility housed in the new UCL Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust building in 235 Euston Road, adjacent to the main UCL campus. The Institute is responsible for the Nuclear Medicine service of UCL Hospitals NHS Trust and is able to offer the full range of Nuclear Medicine diagnostic, laboratory based and therapy procedures. We are superbly equipped with the latest facilities for radionuclide imaging, counting and data analysis. Access to 10 purpose built radionuclide therapy rooms is also available within the hospital.
The INM has a technology platform that is unequalled in the UK and comprises an extensive range of state-of-the-art PETCT, SPETCT and DEXA imaging equipment, image processing and IT systems and radiopharmacy/radiochemistry facilities. The INM has considerable experience in the commissioning systems representing new developments in camera technology, working in collaboration with industry. Over the last 20 years a number of major medical imaging equipment manufacturers have placed ‘first in UK’, ‘first in Europe’ systems with the INM for formal clinical evaluation and detailed performance assessment by INM staff.
INM Staff are actively engaged in research, with special interests in emission-computed tomography and multimodality imaging with PETCT and SPETCT, nuclear cardiology, neurology/psychiatry, radionuclide therapy and bone densitometry. The research portfolio is extensive.
