Abstract
The overarching theme of this chapter is a concern with the future of schools in contemporary society, or more precisely the future school curriculum (e.g. Young and Lambert 2014). The chapter presents an argument for a progressive knowledge-led curriculum, and thus makes a case for subject specialist teaching in schools.
