Antilipoprotein and antiendothelial cell antibodies
Abstract
Antibodies to high density lipoprotein (HDL), and to the main protein constituent of HDL apolipoprotein-A1 have been described in the serum of patients with SLE. The levels of these antibodies can vary with disease activity but there is no conclusive evidence that they alter the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Anti-endothelial cell antibodies were first described in patients with lupus in 1984, but are not measured routinely and are not now believed to have a major role in pathogenesis.
