Abstract
OFC 2020 © OSA 2020 © 2020 The Author(s) This paper discusses the limitations, practicalities and possible technologies for accomplishing high-capacity broadband transmission systems beyond C+L EDFA bandwidth. It also provides a theoretical understanding of the contribution of different noise source limiting the overall system throughput.
