Abstract
Postnatal gene therapy is a reactive approach to disease treatment. The disease in question will have been diagnosed, usually after symptoms have appeared. Children with lethal immune deficiency diseases have been treated by gene therapy with a high success rate in Paris and London, and many other clinical gene therapy trials for various genetic diseases, acquired conditions and different forms of cancer are presently underway or planned in adult patients. © 2008 The Biochemical Society.
