Abstract
Magnetoplasmonics merges plasmonics and magnetism, providing ways to control the surface plasmon propagation but also to control and probe the magnetism of materials. We present an analysis of the optical properties of magnetic cavity consisting of a magnetic dielectric between two sheets of non-magnetic metal. We find that the field distribution of the plasmonic modes inside the cavity is strongly dependent on the magnetisation. The very different field distributions of the modes, depending on the magnetisation direction of the dielectric, should allow interesting possibilities for future magnetic control of the coupling to far-field radiation. © 2012 SPIE.
