Spectroscopic identification in the "real world"

Abstract
Some of the significant issues associated with spectroscopic identification methods under 'real world' conditions are discussed. It needs to be remembered that 'real world' identity testing is not generated by the classical method of canonical varieties analysis (CVA) and similar methods. It is observed that the basic steps remain the same for a methods or different methods employed in such identity testing. The first requirement is that any chemical needs to be identified every time it is moved or before it is used in manufacture. This means that the method needs to be able to distinguish between every chemical on the site. The methods used by individual users are determined by their choice of spectrometer, as the software is provided by the instrument manufacturer.
