ENFOLDing
ENFOLDing (Explaining Modelling and Forecasting Global Dynamics)
Shipping has shaped the world economy for 5000 years by providing transport services for commodities and people across the globe. In the last decade we have been witnessing an exponential growth of the international maritime shipping network. We are now observing that a large number of independent rational agents play a role in achieving predominant positions and increasing market share.
On the basis of the former assumptions, the UCL QASER group is handling extensive research projects on the application of Complex Adaptive System (CAS) modelling to examine the worldwide maritime system through the acquisition of real time data on the movement of cargo. Our objective is to understand global dynamics through a spatial model-based analysis and forecast national and local economic trends in order to provide support to industry, public bodies and policy makers.
