The interactions of elites with informal urban land markets: Durban and Dar Es Salaam
The aim of the research is to understand how elites and major landowners in Durban and Dar es Salaam make decisions about land development in the context of extensive informal land markets. The research will i) generate actual empirical evidence on how these actors relate to informal land markets of poor women and men in their land development activities; and ii) develop effective research methodologies to incorporate the activities of elites and policy-makers in studies of the poor accessing urban land.
