This article examines the way in which the transition to renewable energy is taking place in Mexico, as part of the ongoing Energy Reform, looking at its fastest growing sector: wind energy. It discusses the case of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, where the lives of indigenous peoples have been negatively transformed and who are now fighting to reclaim the right to decide upon their territories and the wind. It also explores the birth of an alternative model of harnessing wind energy by indigenous communities.
